Let’s see ,
We find the square of 72.
72
we doubled the second digit.
72+2 = 74
Now multiply with First digit.
74*7 = 518
Then you put the last digit square ( last digit 2
Square of 2 =4) just put 4 After 518.
The Result is “ 5184 ”

DeleteGood one...but there is one more great trick which is follows
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteSuppose you want to calculate the square of 49
Sol -
Square of 9 = 81
so 1 would be a last digit of a answer and 8 will be a remainder
therefore to remove 2nd last digit
sol-
4*9=36 (first digit multiply by second digit)
and 36*2=72 and 72+8 (remainder)=80
so the 2nd last digit will be 0 and 8 will be a remainder
so to remove a final answer ;
4*4=16 and 16+8=24
so the final answer will be a 2401
Here's my method [don't know if already existed but this is my original], its quick and easy but only work for 2 digit numbers:
ReplyDeleteFor example: 34*34
Steps:
1. Squaring the unit digit number i.e., 4*4=16
Now in the answer workspace write 6 and carry 1.[Ans we have __6]
2. (3*4) + (3*4)
or
2*3*4 = 24
3. Now add 24 with the carry from step 1 i.e., 24+1= 25
Again in the answer workspace write 5 and carry 2. [Ans we have _56]
4.The last step is to multiply or square the first digit i.e., 3*3 = 9
Add 9 with the carry from step 3...i.e., 9+2=11
Then in the answer work space write 1156.
Hence 34*34 = 1156.
# for bigger number eg 79*79 {following above steps}
9*9=81 /// write 1 carry 8
(7*9)+(7*9)=126 /// 126+8=134 /// write 4 and carry 13 [Ans __41]
7*7=49/// 49+13= 62
thus 6241 is the answer.
Note: This method sometime work for multiplication of any two digit numbers.
This may look lengthy but the quickest method to solve in your head.
